If the Steam release and PS4 remaster builds up goodwill and interest in the series, playing the trash that is VCII will squander all of it and put the series in a worse off position.
GameSpy: Have you left things open for a sequel, or is it an open and closed story? Ryutaro Nonaka: If we had the chance, we'd love to make another. For those who liked the first Valkyria Chronicles and want to try 2nd game via a port on PS4, PC and whatever else. GameSpy: Is it exciting to work on a brand-new world from the ground floor, or is it more comfortable to work on something that's been established? Ryutaro Nonaka: It's a little bit easier to make a new game for a series, but making a brand-new game for a brand-new platform is really exciting for us. GameSpy: Do you think these are characters that players can relate to, then? Shuntaro Tanaka: Most players have never been in the army, so both players and the characters feel troubled being in the army for the first time, so it feels realistic. GameSpy: Do you feel that this story, about a country being oppressed by larger countries, resonates with things going on in the world today, or is just fantasy? Ryutaro Nonaka: Well, these things have happened before, and there are things happening right now too, so we wanted to show how normal people in those countries feel.

Ryutaro Nonaka: When you have offense, it might take an hour or more. GameSpy: What's the scope of the adventure? How long do you think the game's going to be, how many missions? Shuntaro Tanaka: I can't really say about the number of missions, but it should take at least 30 hours just in the main story.
Sometimes you can find friends through side stories. GameSpy: How fixed is the storyline? Does the player have choice, or is there a linear progression? Shuntaro Tanaka: Basically it's linear with a long story, but there are side stories. They do get closer during the storyline, and they can get closer when they're together in battles. GameSpy: Do they get close through fighting together in combat, or is this from developing a relationship in the storyline? Shuntaro Tanaka: It's both. Valkyria Chronicles III not coming to US and Europe Low sales and localization costs of Valkyria Chronicles II cited as key reasons for Western no-show. For example, if there are two characters that get really close, then their powers might come up. GameSpy: Is managing the "potential powers" of these characters a large part of the gameplay? Is it just a bonus if you happen to keep this character in combat often, or is it something you really need to manage for each character? Ryutaro Nonaka: It is a really important part of the gameplay.
