The most unappealing decor was only the beginning. Imagine my surprise when I saw the upgraded room.
Our first indication that moving to the Strip from downtown was a mistake was the elevators or "inclinators".
When checking in we were encouraged to upgrade to a suite at a "special" $50 rate per night. Nothing fancy but the egyptian theme was really nice These are time share reps, which we had to ignore after the first day After all the shows, sights & sounds and shopping we finally had a chance to enjoy the pool on our last 2 days.
Our entire stay was fantastic - the only annoying thing was the constant reps who ask if you are staying overnight and if you want discounted show tickets. We had their all day all you can eat, which allows you to cross over to the Excalibur, that way you get 2 different selections - it's worth the US$39 adult/per day We watched Criss Angel and Jabbawockeez - BOTH are incredible highly recommended shows. It got warm during the day, we suggest to keep the curtains closed when you leave your room. The elevators aways as it is going on an angle and it is very scary walking in the hallways as you are overlooking the inside of the building and there is nothing blocking you from falling over except the half walls. The actual hotel was even better than what we saw in the photos. We went on family vacation to Vegas for a week and stayed at the Luxor, mainly because that's where the shows were that my son wanted to watch. They gave me some money off my room but I moved from Pearl to Sapphire and 3/4 of the way to becoming a Gold member all in 1 trip yet not comped very well in the end. When I went to MLife right before checkout, no history of this showed and possibly it was lost because I ended up cancelling my last night stay. They told me I've already played enough to get my last 3 nights comped (Sun, Mon, Tues) and said if I continue playing I might be able to get one of the weekend nights off as well. With 2 nights left in my stay, I stopped at the MLife to check my comps. I mix in some blackjack with family along with that. The night before that I played 5 hours straight. I played craps for 7 hours straight with a crew and basically was with them their entire shift. I think MLife messed up my comp stay for this trip. It's reason enough that I sometimes stay other places. I'm not in there much but I want wifi in my room. I only had 2 issues with Luxor.no wifi in the rooms.
This was consistently the case in March when I visited as well. I stopped waiting for the food/drink girls because it was over 30 minutes to receive service. Drinks/food at the pool are expensive (just as everything in Vegas is) but more affordable than other pools I've been to. The food court was decent and right next to the pool. I enjoy Mandalay and MGM pools slightly more. The pool is one of the best hotel pools I've been to (not including pool parties). I love playing craps and blackjack at Luxor.they have my favorite dealers and pit crew. My dad was paying about $75 more a day for their room but after talking to the people at check - in, they were kind enough to match a family rate and give my parents the same rate I received. I got a great deal with a promotion on my MLife card for a basic room and they upgraded me to the suite for a very reasonable $35 a day. The Tower Suites are MUCH better and renovated than Pyramid Suites. My brothers and I stayed in a Tower Luxury Suite and my parents stayed in a Pyramid Suite. I've been to the Luxor before and I think it's a good mix of a family atmosphere and still a decent number of people in their 20s and 30s because of the affordable rooms. I took a family trip with my parents (age 53) and my twin brothers (26) and I'm 29 years old. Excalibur food court is slightly better.ĭrinks/food at the pool are expensive (just as everything in Vegas is) but more affordable.
